What to Expect for Your First Visit
You will be warmly greeted by our staff, offered refreshment and made comfortable in our reception area.
Our staff will assist you in filling out some paperwork regarding your health history and health goals. We will answer any financial or insurance questions you have so you can get this off your mind. You will then be introduced to and meet with Dr. Pence. This consultation will allow us to get to know one another better and begin to determine how we can best help you.
If it looks like you are a good candidate for Chiropractic care an examination will follow. We’ll do some things you’ve seen before, like check your blood pressure and pulse, test reflexes, etc. We’ll also see how well you can turn and bend and how well your muscles work. One of the most helpful tests is to feel of the area of concern to see where you may be tender or have muscle spasm, swelling, etc. These tests will help us determine what is causing your problem and help us decide how to help you.
We may then recommend x-rays or other tests such as advanced imaging like CT or MRI if we feel it is necessary to make an accurate diagnosis. We’ll then report to you our findings and recommendations. If you are in pain we will do our best to help you immediately. We’ll often recommend an initial two or three visits to allow us to see how quickly your body will respond to our care. Everyone responds at a different rate because we are all different. These first two or three visits will also give you the opportunity to ask more questions and check us out.
We schedule an hour of Dr. Pence’s time for your first visit. Subsequent visits may take 10 to 20 minutes of your time. Once we see how well you respond we’ll talk about future recommendations and offer you some treatment choices.
How much care you receive is always up to you.
